Local Business Development & Retention
Local Business Development Committee

The Chamber works with the area's existing business base through a proactive business contact program to capitalize on strengths and identify weaknesses in the region, and to facilitate solutions to issues impacting success. Staff members also work closely with local government entities and business resource providers to make sure business interests are represented. The Local Business and Development Committee, made up of approximately thirty chamber members, focuses to maintain and strengthen Fort Worth's economic base through the retention, expansion and support of local businesses.

Controlling Our Destiny Investors

Download List of Investors [PDF]

Earlier this year, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce kicked off its fifth “Controlling Our Destiny” campaign.  Since 1989, this initiative has played a key role in expanding and diversifying Fort Worth’s economic base.

Unlike most Chambers that receive government funding, the Fort Worth Chamber relies on the support of the local business community to fund its economic development efforts.  And, despite the current economic conditions, the business community has responded with a continued high level of investment in this important campaign.

Thanks to our many partners in Controlling Our Destiny, the Chamber’s economic development programs have resulted in 1,100 significant business locations or expansions, 250,000 jobs and billions of dollars in capital investment.  Today, Fort Worth is seen as one of the strongest business communities in Texas and the United States, stemming from its central location in the United States, significant transportation infrastructure, ready access to a highly educated workforce, low cost of doing business and overall quality of life.

With the community’s support, the Chamber continues to attract new businesses and jobs to Fort Worth, such as the recent expansion of Q-Edge to AllianceTexas that will result in 500 new jobs for the region.  The Chamber also assists with existing business expansion needs and secures additional capital investment that adds strength to the local economy.  This work would not be possible without the many alliances we have forged with other groups – public and private – with whom we share common interests and ambitions.
