Super Southern Supper: Next month, when Tom Brady and his New England Patriots are in town, Giselle Brady is going to need some company as she sits around waiting for The Game. Mr. B texted her and she is good to go for dinner at one of Bon Appetit magazine's 2010 Best New Restaurants. Yes, Mr. B and a real Mrs. B will be dining at Ellerbe's Fine Foods, where Richard (fit to be) King and chef Molly McCook(book) will blitz us with southern family fare until we're filled like sacks. Giselle promises the diet is done for this delicious dining. You could give it a try, too, albeit without Giselle, thanks to Lauren Kwedar, professor of PR at Paige Hendricks Public Relations, who secured the gift card from her client.

Networking is exhausting: Tomorrow night, during a Business After Hours at the Renaissance Worthington Bob Jameson Marriott Hotel, the Chamber will trot out the finalists for Small Business of the Year. The Worthington will provide wondrous food, delightful drinks and designer decor. You will network. You will get leads. You will get business. And hopefully, Chamber Big Boss Bill will not put you to sleep during his 118-minute introduction and speech about small businesses fueling the economy. But if he does, it won't be a problem, because one of you could win a night's stay at the Worthington.

Impact Your Business presented by Sandler Training is back in gear for the new year as it will continue to host effective speakers at their monthly luncheons and breakfasts. Platinum Sponsor Charter Business' Tony Obas was also in gear at December's luncheon at Joe T. Garcias where he helped wrap up the 2010 series. To see more photos from the last event, click here.

Will work for flights: Chamber Eco development elf David Berzina went to Germany and China last year in search of jobs for Fort Worth and someone has to finance those trips. So, we bring you the money-making, trip-supporting 2011 Tarrant County Commercial Real Estate Forecast Jan. 20. Proceeds will benefit the Chamber Economic Development Program. There's tons of great speakers and forecasts of boom and exhilaration from the likes of, but not limited to, Ben Loughry of Integra Realty Resources, Susan Halsey of Jackson Walker, Mike Berry of Hillwood and David Walters of Jones Lang LaSalle, and we've got a ticket for two people.

Chips A'hoy: This giveaway was a four-pack, but the prospective Ms. B likes to munch on chips slobbered with Renfro Foods' pomegranate salsa. So, from Small Business of the Year finalist Renfro Foods, we have five, three-jar gift packs of salsa that include the award-winning Ghost Pepper, Pineapple and Mango Habanero salsas. The latter was selected by Women's Health magazine as among its “125 Best Packaged Foods for Women.” Men did not make that list.

Purple faze: Frog fever rises again! A celebration of TCU's first 13-0 season and Rose Bowl championship is Sunday at 4 p.m. at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. And it's free! TCU football coach Gary Patterson, Chancellor Victor Boschini, AD Chris Del Conte, and Fort Worth's 3M (Mayor Mike Moncrief) will talk, cheerleaders will cheer and the band will play on. TCU is reporting that, aside from the NFL, its 21-19 victory over Wisconsin was the most-watched sports event in ESPN and cable television history.

Super in Sundance: Wow, less than a month until the Big Game and who woulda thunk it, but former Washington Redskin Darrell Green and former Dallas Cowboy Tony Dorsett are working together to support the first Super Sunday Hope Walk. It's Feb. 6, the morning of the game, in Sundance Square. 65% of proceeds will stay in Tarrant County, going to Cook Children's and the Fort Worth ISD.

Super at the Stadium: Carlo and mom Janet Capua will be this close to Super Sunday action. Their Z's Cafe is one of 50 restaurants invited to the NFL's Super Bowl Tailgate party. They will feature a bacon-wrapped chicken with jalapeno for 2,500 NFL players, owners and other dignitaries (no Mr. B on that invite list).

Super support: Don't forget, this Friday through Super Bowl Sunday is Souper Bowl of Caring Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Food/Fund Drive benefiting the Tarrant Area and North Texas food banks. Even boss Miserly Mistress has given Mr. B a three-week (temporary) raise to 40 cents an hour so he can contribute.

Show us the money! That Chamber economic development meeting scheduled for this morning has been postponed until February. Eco director David Berzina is either traveling or still counting last year's money.

Star power: In 10th grade, Mr. B, all of 5-foot, 5-inches, had a crush on a girl named Marnie. She was the daughter of the basketball coach and stood 6-1. Not a match-up with rockets bursting in air. But there must be something starry about Marnies because Marnie Stites of Guardianship Services is the Chamber's 2010 Charles Cox Service Award winner and Ambassador of the Year. Bethany Tyler, Burnett's Staffing; Betty Poage, Ameriprise Financial; John Porhamer, Cowtown Insurance and Brenda Grissom, Southside Bank were named other Star Am-Bass-Adorables.

R.I.P: Nothing ever crude about oilman Charles Simmons, 84. Always generous, always garrulous. Simmons invented the perforation ball sealer process that allowed for the recovery of more oil and gas. He emceed the Chamber's Leaders in Business and Leaders in Government series for the past eight years and was a great friend of the Chamber.

Is she kidding? Courtney Holt, the “eyes and ears” at events for state Sen. Jane Nelson, left her job as an English teacher at Colleyville Heritage to politic. “I'm only 30,” she says, “but kids today are different.”

Are they kidding? This just in from the city's news department--Do not feed the coyotes. (Seems to be a problem around TCC Northeast campus.)

Biker boss: Perhaps we'll see 3M (Mayor Mike Moncrief) doing security patrol while spoking around Sundance Square on his new red & white Trek Allant bicycle courtesy of Madison, Wisconsin Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. It's part of the payoff from TCU's Rose Bowl victory.

Not too taxing, we hope: Can't speak for their labors, but Angela Lamb of Farmer's Insurance and Lacy Sperry of TXU Energy managed to eke out tax deductions before Jan. 1. A boy and a girl.

Crowning deal: Crowne Plaza is signed on as sponsor of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial through 2015, with added TV commercials. We loved the Mickelson spots, and are thinking maybe there's one about Ian Poulter and John Daly sending out their fancy pants for a laundering.

Bridge over untroubled water: The 7th Street bridge work will be started this year, with some lane closures. Bulk of the heavy work is in 2012. Completion is scheduled for “before the holidays” in 2012 and there's a $1 million bonus for early completion. The project will widen and re-construct the four-lane bridge for cars and include 10-foot sidewalks for cyclists and mass transportation.

Back to the Future: Chamber VisionFW yung'uns ambitiously are working on a project that enVisions what Fort Worth should be in 25 years--culture, economy and atmosphere to make it the place to work, play and live. Mr. B has enVisioned the 2036 future and what he sees is a lot of older yung'uns.

Future forecast: Don't know whether to laugh or laud this, but IBM's five-year forecast for products includes wearing personal sensors that monitor your environmental usage and waste (UGo Green?); batteries for laptops and cell phones that last 10x longer by breathing air (not sure where the lungs will go) and 3D people-to-people communication.
