V is for victory: Mr. B was sidelining, just some work-for-food credit at Eddie V's Prime Seafood last Friday night, basically cleaning tables and talking Hall of Fame trash with Deion and Emmitt. But eyes lit up when he noticed that A-list celebs Ashley Lightfoot of Eddie V's and Lauren Kwedar of Paige Hendricks PR had leftovers a plenty... scraps from their succulent steak and tender tilapia. Why are they A-list? Because they also tipped Mr. B with a dinner gift certificate for $150 with instructions to offer it to a Newz-E-Letter reader. Win and you can check out Eddie V's; you never know which celebs might be cruising in.

Chocoholics Anonymous: Your Valentine's celebration was soooooo romantic and you vowed/resolved to plan a date night each month and it's a new month on the horizon and another 2011 resolution is in jeopardy. Let Mr. (Romantic) B suggest the phattest and fattest evening of intimacy, ecstasy and indulgence. Take your sweetie to the Lena Pope Home Sweethearts Dessert Fantasy Sunday March 6 at the Fort Worth Club. Delectable desserts from the creative culinaries will ruin your diet but caffeinate your love life. Win this and bring a guest and two empty stomachs.

Let's give one more round of applause to our Fort Worth Ambassadors for braving the cold and ice as they painted the town red in friendly fashion. They were the best dressed volunteers in the Metroplex, and the Chamber has received notes from Pittsburgh fans bragging on our hospitality. Thanks to sponsor Sewell Lexus of Fort Worth for providing the swag.

Zach-ful of fun: Tickets go on sale next Tuesday for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial and Mr. B went to the website looking for free stuff to do...and wow! Can't believe how this tournament has engaged the entire community and the whole free day Monday, and nights, too, at Sundance Square. We need to invite Steelers fans back to town because Mr. B is guessing that the May 16 tournament week is not going to be teens degrees. Does the blast of recent spring weather have you thinking Colonial? Tourney manager Dennis Roberson hopes so, and he freely is passing along two tickets and two logo-ed caps to two different winners who can recall that Zach Johnson is the defending champ.

Piano Man: 20th century immigrants got off the boat at Ellis Island, received a name change, and voila, Welcome to America. Live your dream! And what could be dreamier than an evening with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra at Bass Performance Hall? It is Friday night, March 4, and subbing for piano man Ben Roethlisberger is Leon McCawley, performing “Ellis Island:  The Dream of America”, lyrics by Christina Aguilera. Barb Lewis, who before "Ellis Island was Barbarella Lewistown," tickled someone's ivories and got two vouchers for tickets.

Eye on the prize: Farmers insurance agent Angela Lamb sails away this weekend on a 7-day cruise, during which the Dallas Cowboys swimsuit calendar will be shot. Angela won't be modeling for the cameras, but let's guess that husband Les has volunteered to be key grip. No hayseed, Angela won the cruise in a Farmers' contest.

Edukat me: Alex Holloway, the Coordinator of Community Outreach for Tarleton State University, read that Mr. B was a proud Florida State dropout and wrote to remind him that the first Friday (11 a.m.-7 p.m.) of every month is an Open House for info on bachelor's and masters programs.

Edukat me 2: Woohoo to Stacy Fuller of the Amon Carter Museum. She's the National Art Education Association's Western Region Museum Art Educator of the Year.

Their cards are on the table: Small Business of the Year finalist Studios 121 has foosball, blackjack and gaming tables and a full-service bar in the lounging areas of a 43,000 square-foot facility. When asked why, CEO Michael Fletcher said “production is a gamble every day.” (Check the Chamber website later today to see who won Small Business of the Year Awards.)

Lip gloss: Romance novel publisher Harlequin has a patent request for romantic kisses. So Channel 11 did a Valentine's Day feature on not-the-chocolate kisses and featured Decker Jones patent attorney Brian Yost. He suggests it's a no-go patent, but wouldn't kiss and tell all the specifics.

20/20: Elizabeth Oliva is full of energy now that the Ambit Energy recruiter lost 20 pounds in 20 days.

Is a Slim Jim diet food? Dieting Donnie Sherwood of Integra Realty Resources is one pound away from being a jockey. So, poll of the day: Is it more difficult to lose the weight or keep it off? Donnie says he doesn't know. “Both are hard.”

Weighty, doughy issue: Wondering how the U.S. troops stay in shape when thousands of boxes of Girl Scout cookies are delivered? Project Troop to Troop is a Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains initiative in which the community buys cookies to donate to the U.S. Armed Forces. Aryana (7) and Aaliya (6) got it started by collecting donations of Girl Scout Cookies to say “thank you” to wounded soldiers and war veterans. Last year, more than 26,000 boxes were delivered.

American idol: Marketing marv Princess Pam Mincik at Billy Bob's Texas is learning to yodel. She is being honored March 1 by the Cowtown Opry and wants to yodel to accompany a special song the young songwriters wrote.

Who woulda thunk it: Terri Wood says she has a growing men's market for Mary Kay products.

I'll sign up: Candidates for Fort Worth council have to pay $100 or have 25 signatures to file. That is $4 a signature, which is what a Toby Harrah autographed card sells for on eBay.

With a "B": AllianceTexas development says it kicked in another $2 billion in economic impact during 2009, bringing the project's overall economic impact to $38.5 billion.

You lead, we'll follow: Mr. B is thinking about attending the March 3 Leadership Fort Worth Fellows Dinner to hobnob with honorees Bob Pence of Freese and Nichols and Julie Wilson of Chesapeake Energy. Hey, Mr. B isn't a leader, but he could be a fellow.

Celebrate, then back to work: Steve Leaman of Leaman Container took the staff to a spectacular steak dinner for surpassing 2010 goals; guess that puts the company behind goal for 2011.

Tiffany breakfast: Breakfast with Big Boss Bill is a lot better than breakfast with boss Miserly Mistress. BBB ordered steak, eggs and bacon for everyone at the recent Leaders in Government Chamber breakfast at the Fort Worth Club. Can't remember Miserly ever ordering steak.

It's a wrap: Mr. B is trying to figure this out: Sally Burt owns FIG Designers and it is “couture clothing from 24 designers” that is “made to fit.” So B looks around and is wondering how clothing could be “made to fit” all those body shapes and sizes. Buehler? Buehler?
