Room on the bandwagon: Is it really June and the Texas Rangers are still playing games that count? Hottttttt doggggggg! This Young team is fun to follow, fun to root for and fun to see. And thanks to Katie Schlaf from the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, we have two sets of two tickets (lower box, good Sunday-Thursday) for a non-premier game in June. Schedule includes Dodgers, Astros, Padres and Angels.
Plenty of ZZZZs: Last week was the one-year anniversary of Zorro’s Texas Buffet, the largest and best tasting buffet in all of the B universe. He can’t be wrong because more than 410,000 paid tickets were collected in 12 months, according to owner Ricki Epstein. That’s nearly 8,000 diners a week. If you haven’t been there, here’s your chance to see what all the buf-fuss is about. We’ve got two sets of four dinners to give away.
Garden Parties: Barbara Lewis, Newz-E-Letter’s official song-and-ticketmeister at the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, has won 112 of our giveaways the past four months. (Take her to Vegas!) She’s finally decided to give back, having orchestrated vouchers for two tickets to three upcoming Concerts in the Gardens. You can enter for the June 19th Cherryholmes, the June 26th The N’Awlins Gumbo Kings or the July 5th 1812 Overture.
Blue coup: Mindy Billings’ pride is soaring and she has a right to be a proud mom and business partner in 3 B Enterprises with son Don. He has been in the Navy for seven years and is a mechanic on the F-18 Hornet jets. Don long has been a fan of the Blue Angels flying team. “He used to stand in the backyard at our home on Mather Air Force Base in California and watch them fly over as they practiced for their shows,” Mindy says. In April, Don submitted his application for the team. Last week, he became the newest Blue Angel and part of the traveling performers for three years.

This just in: From the American Podiatrist guys and your company safety administrator on flip flops -- Don’t ignore irritation between toes, where the toe thong fits. This can lead to blisters and possible infections, and don’t mow the yard while wearing flip-flops.
Annual meeting 1: OK, so Richard Florida, guest speaker at yesterday’s Chamber annual meeting at the Renaissance Worthington, says a location has to have three Ts: Technology, Talent and Tolerance. With those taken, Mr. B will go with Banks, Baseball and BBQ.

Annual meeting 2: New board Chairman Wes Turner is in charge of a group of community newspapers and shoppers New Jersey way. He replaces outgoing board chair Ben Loughry of Integra Realty Resources.

Don't Nix: Susan Nix is at her hairdresser getting ready for Casa Mañana’s Legally Blonde August 4-9.
Hot spot for summer 1: Surprised to hear that the little jewel – Community Arts Center – had 8,000 visitors in May to its galleries, Scott and Sanders theaters and Z’s Café.

Hot spot for summer 2: It’s jazzy on Thursdays at Shula's, with live entertainment from 6:30-10 p.m. Donations are being accepted to raise money to buy trumpets for kids who cannot afford one. The kids have to sign an agreement stating they will reach certain goals. First awardee was Yeika Garcia from Kirkpatrick Middle School.
Area secured: Ken West says bring all your money to the ribbon cutting tomorrow at Trinity Armored Security, 4221 Clay Ave. It will be well guarded. Chamber event photos can be seen online.
Steely jobs: Almost all the stainless steel fabrications holding ice or running water at the new Cowboys Stadium have been installed by GST Manufacturing, says sales rep Rodney Kennedy. GST does everything from dog dishes to oilfield equipment. A recent job was a stainless steel staircase for a Lake Worth home. Steps were made from maple.
Strangest happenings: Donna Darovich, marketing and PR guru for Tarrant County College District, attended the opening ceremony for the Cowboys' Stadium. She said she saved one of the Cowboys Star cookies they gave out for posterity, but her dog ate it. (He’s a Cleveland Browns fan.) Despite mammoth size, Donna says the stadium is quite intimate inside. Sadly, her IPhone pix of husband O.K. Carter with a Cowboys cheerleader was “accidentally” deleted.

Big wish: Newz-E-Letter graphics guru Lauren Turner is a year older and three years wiser Saturday and boss Miserly (no raise for B) Mistress is older and no less wiser Monday. Happy birthday, Lauren.
Aero off zero: Aerotek account manager Ashley Marquez says job availability is increasing in many areas. “It’s picking up, turning around,” the recruiter said. One opening is for a transformer designer, but it’s not the toy Transformers.
P.S.: Recently, it was mentioned that Summit Press VP Reagan Ferguson’s daughter Alex was touring China with TCU’s Supply Chain Management group. She and four friends were ticketed for jaywalking while there. You pay the fine on the spot--$1 each.

Admit it, it’s tough: Dr. Tevfik Eski, superintendent of Harmony Science Academy free charter schools, says the schools get 1,500 applications for 50 openings a year. There are three locations for grades K-12.
Insured against recession: This economy is good for Rodney Ferrell of Brinkley Insurance Group. He says more people are likely to shop independent insurers for lower costs.
What I did this summer: Busy, busy, busy. The Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts broke ground on a $4.2-million education building last Friday at 3901 S. Hulen. And its Texas Boys Choir began a 12-day National Tour Saturday of New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The highlight is a Carnegie Hall residence, where the boys will perform a solo prelude concert June 14, followed by a mass choir performance with full orchestra. In preparation, the choir recorded two CDs, including Seasons of Song, which contains many popular wedding selections.
How things shape up: Tarrant County College Southeast Campus President Judith Carrier always looks nice and it’s clear why -- The Texas Dietetic Association named her the Bluebonnet Award winner for her contributions to the advancement of nutrition and dietetics.
Such a relief: Marnie Stites was named Director of Development for Guardianship Services two weeks ago and immediately had a presentation to make before 100 Rotarians. In between, she was fortunate to have won a Newz-E-Letter giveaway for a presentation skills seminar put on by CrossGroup Inc.

Finding relief: Texas Rangers relief pitcher Eddie Guardado has a daughter suffering with autism. So he’s happy to be hosting Easter Seals North Texas’ Autism Awareness Night at The Ballpark June 26.
