BASIC FUNCTION:
The Specialist – Existing Business & Talent serves the Chamber by supporting the Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) as well as Talent initiatives. Responsible for helping to meet the goals of BRE interviews and the objectives defined in the Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) with partnering organizations. Excellent customer service and a passion for serving others is key to create a positive energy and excitement for Chamber staff, volunteers, and Regional Economic Development Partners.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
Business Retention and Expansion
Essential duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the coordination and logistics of the Area Boards and BRE Committee
- Assist with the coordination and logistics of the Small Business of the Year awards
- Input and maintain data in BRE software. This includes the coordination with staff, volunteers, and regional partners.
- Analyze and identify trends within the BRE data.
- Create reports and updates for staff, Area Boards and Regional Economic Development Partners
Talent
Essential duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the coordination of Fort Worth ISD, other ISD’s, and higher education institutions
- Assist with the coordination and logistics of ISD & higher education institutions career/job fairs, mock interviews and other teacher and student experiences.
- Support relationships with other governmental, quasi-governmental and outside partnering talent organizations. This includes but is not limited to Texas Workforce Commissions, regional county Workforce Solutions, and Fort Worth HR.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Four-year college degree
- Must have excellent organizational, communication and computer skills.
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills with community and business leaders
- Self-starter and driven for success and excellence
- Requires analytical thinking and processing of data and information
- Expertise in implementing strategies to accomplish goals
DECISION-MAKING AND ACTION TAKING:
Position requires working with the business community and educational institutions. Must be able to work with the team to address needs. Position may require making recommendations regarding matters that are beyond written procedures and determine procedures for major activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Some domestic travel
- Moderate noise level
- Some lifting of boxes of up to 25 pounds
- Long periods of sitting
- Early morning meetings and evening functions
