Celebrating Milestones: Pulliam Pools’ Journey From Foundation To Expansion

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrates the remarkable expansion and relocation of one of its longstanding members, Pulliam Pools, a testament to enduring business success and community commitment in our vibrant economic landscape.

Established in 1916 by brothers Theodore Creswell Pulliam and Frank ‘Pop’ Pulliam, Pulliam Pools began as a modest cement contracting business, inadvertently setting the foundation for what would become America’s Oldest Pool Builder. Their pioneering spirit led them to construct some of the first swimming pools in Coryell County, transforming the industry from simple cattle dipping vats to sophisticated aquatic architecture.

Over the decades, Pulliam Pools evolved through the ingenuity and dedication of three generations of the Pulliam family, revolutionizing the pool industry in Texas. From introducing the first gunite rig in 1948 to expanding into innovative marketing and advertising strategies, the company grew from a local storefront to the nation’s 24th largest builder—a Pool & Spa News Top Builder.

The ribbon cutting at their new location marks not just a physical move but a significant milestone in their story of growth and adaptation. "This event is not only a celebration of Pulliam Pools' expansion but also a reflection of the strength and resilience of businesses in Fort Worth," said Fort Worth Chamber president and CEO, Steve Montgomery.

In 2009, leadership transitioned to new President Debra Smith and Vice President Mike Clark, who had been integral to the company’s success for nearly two decades. Their leadership has continued to honor the legacy while steering the company toward new horizons. In 2022, Pulliam Pools was acquired by Riverbend Sandler Pools, with Andrew Fluty, a dedicated employee who rose through the ranks, taking over as General Manager in 2023.

Today, Pulliam Pools is not just about building pools but creating complete backyard experiences, offering everything from cabanas and BBQs to synthetic turf. Their growth is evident in the expansion of their maintenance program, which has seen significant growth in customer accounts and employee numbers, demonstrating a robust full-service philosophy that encapsulates construction, maintenance, and remodeling of pools.

As Fort Worth continues to expand and attract new businesses and residents, the Chamber remains committed to supporting and advocating for companies like Pulliam Pools that contribute to the region's economic prosperity and quality of life.

This story of growth and success is a testament to the importance of a strong business climate that ensures all businesses have the resources and support to thrive.
