Fort Worth Chamber hosts Leaders Online highlighting Funding Resources for Small Business

FORT WORTH, TX – The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce hosted its third Leaders Online Monday, March 23 via Zoom and Facebook Live.


The event, a Zoom Webinar livestreamed to Facebook, featured Kemmiko Grant, EMBA, SBDC Business Advisor at Tarrant County College. SBDC is grant funded through the state of Texas, and hosted by TCC.


Grant walked viewers through the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program, as well as the application process.


SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loans offer up to $2 million in assistance for small businesses to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid do to COVID-19’s economic impact. The interest rate is 3.75% for small businesses, 2.75% for non-profits with a maximum term of 30 years.

When applying for an economic injury disaster loan, applicants should be prepared to submit the following:

  • Completed application (Form 5)
  • Signed and dated IRS-Form 4506-T
  • 3 years of tax returns
  • Personal Financial Statement (SBA Form 413) from each principal owner (20%+).
  • Scheduled liabilities

Grant encouraged hesitant applicants to go ahead and apply and to not disqualify themselves if wondering about their eligibility.

The series, an alternative to in-person programming, was created to assist Fort Worth Chamber members with obstacles related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders Online features industry experts via virtual livestreams to answer questions and guide local employers in situations they’re likely not familiar with, associated with COVID-19.

The Chamber will host Cameron Cushman, Director, Innovation Ecosystems at UNT Health Science Center on Wednesday, March 24 at 2:00 pm CST to discuss Start Up Resources.
