Fort Worth, TX – Today the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce announced that Hillwood, a Perot Company, has agreed to match Facebook’s monetary contribution to the Fort Worth Chamber Foundation to provide Fort Worth small businesses with personal protective equipment amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

“Joining Facebook to support the Fort Worth business community was an easy decision,” said Mercedes Bolen, vice president for External Affairs at Hillwood.  “As we all get back to work and reenergize our economy, it is important that we remain safe and diligent.  We hope that these tools help small companies focus on the success of their businesses.”

Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is in high demand as Fort Worth businesses begin to re-open. Protect the Fort is a combined effort by the City of Fort Worth’s Economic Development Department, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and Visit Fort Worth to provide local businesses with PPE. The first wave of distributions was funded by Facebook.

“Since 2015, Hillwood has been an exceptional partner and we are so proud to have made our home in AllianceTexas,” said Matt Sexton, Community Development Regional Manager for Facebook. “Today, we are excited to further expand this partnership to support Fort Worth small businesses at this crucial time”

A limited supply of PPE was made available on Monday, May 4. Nearly 100 small and minority-owned businesses received PPE boxes complete with KN95 face masks, single-use, foodservice grade gloves, spray hand sanitizer, and gel hand sanitizer.

The groups plan to distribute an additional 300 PPE kits on Friday, May 8.
