Fort Worth Chamber Releases Homelessness Toolkit to Support Local Businesses

March 19, 2025

The Fort Worth Chamber is proud to announce the launch of a new Homelessness Toolkit designed to assist business owners in navigating the challenges associated with homelessness and the impact it has on their business. Developed in partnership with local stakeholders, this resource provides actionable strategies to help businesses address concerns while fostering compassionate, community-oriented solutions.

Over the past year, homelessness has emerged as one of the top challenges facing Fort Worth businesses, particularly small business owners. According to recent Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) surveys conducted by the Chamber, 65% of the 420 businesses surveyed reported that homelessness directly impacts their daily operations. Recognizing the urgency of this issue, the Fort Worth Chamber convened a Homelessness Task Force in the fall of 2024 to explore solutions.

The Homelessness Toolkit was developed through extensive collaboration with:

  • City of Fort Worth staff
  • Local business owners
  • Fort Worth Police Department
  • Public improvement district leaders
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Community partners such as the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber, Near Southside, Inc., and the City of Fort Worth

By bringing together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, this initiative aims to provide businesses with practical resources that balance public safety, economic vitality, and community support.

What’s Inside the Toolkit?

The Homelessness Toolkit includes:

  • Best practices for business owners on managing homelessness-related challenges
  • Guidance on working with law enforcement and city services
  • Tips for fostering positive community engagement
  • Legal considerations for business owners

A Resource for All Fort Worth Businesses

This toolkit is available to all Fort Worth business owners and operators. Whether your business is located downtown, in a commercial corridor, or in a developing district, these resources are designed to provide support tailored to your specific needs.

The Homelessness Toolkit is now available for download on the Fort Worth Chamber’s website. Business owners can begin implementing strategies that help both their business and the broader community.

For more information or to provide feedback on the toolkit, please contact FWC Manager of Business Advocacy, Henri Nilsen.
