Men's Health Month: Why It Matters More Than Ever

June 24, 2025

Article provided by Alan Stovesand of Gameday Men’s Health, Fort Worth’s trusted clinic for testosterone therapy, weight optimization, and comprehensive men’s wellness, and Chamber member.

Each June, Men’s Health Month shines a spotlight on the importance of prioritizing wellness and preventative care for men and boys. Across the country, communities, health organizations, and civic groups rally to raise awareness about health challenges facing men, and how to beat them. At Gameday Men’s Health, we’re proud to contribute to that conversation and help Fort Worth-area men feel their best, all year round.

But what exactly is Men’s Health Month, and why does it deserve our attention?

The Silent Crisis in Men’s Health

While modern medicine continues to evolve, there remains a significant gap between how men and women approach healthcare.

  • Men are 24% less likely than women to have seen a doctor in the past year,
  • 1 in 3 men admit to delaying medical care as long as possible, even when they’re in pain,
  • Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men in the U.S., followed by cancer and unintentional injuries.

These numbers are more than statistics; they are a call to action.

The “Check Engine” Light of Your Body

Too often, men treat their health like a car that’s running just fine, until it’s not. A check engine light means something. So do symptoms like:

  • Chronic fatigue or poor sleep
  • Low motivation or mood changes
  • Loss of muscle mass or strength
  • Weight gain, especially around the midsection
  • Decreased libido or performance

Many of these issues can stem from treatable conditions such as low testosterone, vitamin deficiencies, or metabolic dysfunction. With proper evaluation and personalized care, men can often reverse these effects and restore vitality.

Five Steps Every Man Can Take This Month

Men’s Health Month isn’t just about awareness, it’s about action. Here are five simple, powerful steps men can take now:

  1. Get a physical, especially if it’s been more than a year.
  1. Know your numbers, including blood pressure, cholesterol, and hormone levels.
  1. Move your body, even 30 minutes a day can make a difference.
  1. Talk about it, because mental health matters just as much as physical health.
  1. Commit to long-term health and make small changes that lead to big results.

(Want an easy win? Schedule a wellness screening this month, it could be the first step toward a healthier, stronger future.)

The Power of Community

Men’s Health Month is more than a calendar event, it’s a community movement. Employers, civic groups, and local leaders can play a big role in encouraging men to prioritize their well-being. Here are a few ideas to get involved:

  • Host a “Wear Blue Day” at your business to show support
  • Share men’s health resources in your workplace or on social media
  • Partner with local clinics or health providers for onsite screenings or Q&A events

Together, we can help change the culture around men’s health from reactive to proactive.

A Healthier Tomorrow Starts Today

The mission of Men’s Health Month is one we share every day at Gameday Men’s Health, helping men live stronger, healthier, more energized lives. This month, we encourage every Chamber member, whether you're a business leader, father, brother, or friend, to help spread the word. When men prioritize their health, everyone benefits.
