Senator Ted Cruz Visits Fort Worth Chamber Members

On Wednesday, April 5, members of the Fort Worth Chamber were joined by Senator Ted Cruz for a discussion about policy issues facing Fort Worth area businesses. The conversation began with prepared remarks from the Senator, in which he emphasized that job creation was his top priority. Senator Cruz indicated that elected officials in Washington can’t create jobs, but they have a responsibility to promote a regulatory environment that allows job creators to thrive.

The Senator illustrated the need for job creation by highlighting that Texas had 26 million residents when he was first elected, while today there are more than 30 million Texans. Job growth in the Lone Star State must match the corresponding population growth for Texas to continue to prosper.

Senator Cruz addressed the looming debt ceiling issue by asserting that the United States would never default on its debts, a failure that would have widespread ramifications for the global economy. The Senator also went in-depth on issues of international relations, specifically how national security and economic prosperity are intertwined on issues of trade, supporting America’s allies, and defending against the influence of our country’s adversaries.

Senator Cruz summarized his visit with the Fort Worth Chamber by saying: “It was wonderful to be in Fort Worth to talk about how we can bring more jobs and more economic opportunity to the area. Fort Worth is booming, and so is the Lone Star State as a whole. I am proud to prioritize jobs and our economy in the Senate to ensure Fort Worth remains a beacon of economic freedom.”
