The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce is preparing to launch a talent survey to gather input from employers across Tarrant County on workforce priorities, skill gaps, and future hiring needs. The survey will be distributed via email the week of April 14 and is part of the Chamber’s ongoing effort to support a thriving and robust workforce. 

This initiative follows the launch of the Chamber’s Talent Committee earlier this year and builds on recent workforce development successes, including the partnership between Autobahn Fort Worth and Tarrant County College to support automotive career pathways. That collaboration was sparked by a tour coordinated by the Chamber in 2023, which brought together local employers and educational partners to discuss talent needs. It ultimately led to the creation of a $50,000 scholarship program and internship opportunities for students pursuing automotive technology careers. 

The survey, which will take approximately three minutes to complete, is designed to identify the skills most critical to the respondent’s business, assess the strength of those same skills within their existing workforce, and pinpoint the gaps that are hardest to fill. Three optional questions at the end will provide additional insight for those willing to give a few extra minutes. 

Responses will be collected from Chamber and non-Chamber members, with outreach supported by an additional organization to be announced soon. The survey is aimed at C-suite executives and human resources professionals, offering a chance to compare and evaluate workforce priorities from those two different perspectives in an organization. 

The Talent Committee was formed to address ongoing concerns raised through the Chamber’s business retention and expansion efforts, including soft skill shortages, difficulty filling positions in high-demand sectors like health care and information technology, and navigating educational partnership requests. 

Insights from the survey will inform the Talent Committee’s next steps, including the identification of three key workforce priorities to be presented to the Chamber’s Executive Committee in June. Those priorities will guide subcommittees in developing targeted action plans in September.
