FWC Welcomes Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar for Discussion on State Economy
July 31, 2024
As part of its Leaders in Government series, the Fort Worth Chamber is excited to welcome Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar to Fort Worth on September 10. As Comptroller, Hegar serves as Texas’ chief financial officer – the state’s treasurer, check writer, tax collector, procurement officer and revenue estimator. Hegar was first elected to the position in 2014. From the Comptroller’s website: “He believes a less-burdensome tax system will foster a better environment for job creation and business expansion, and thus a healthier Texas economy.”
The Texas economy would be the eighth largest economy in the world if it were its own country. Hegar monitors the financial health of our state economy to ensure it maintains strong fund balances for Texas’ public goods and services. He has worked to bring attention to long-term obligations facing the state, such as health care coverage for public school teachers and core infrastructure.
Leaders in Government attendees can expect a thoughtful conversation on the overall health of the Texas economy, key industry sector trends, sales tax data analysis, and insights into the state’s budget for the upcoming Texas legislative session. Join the FWC for this unique opportunity to hear from a statewide elected official and to gain insights into business trends across the state of Texas.
