Fort Worth Chamber Secures Initial Win for Businesses and Consumers vs. CFPB

May 17, 2024

The Fort Worth Chamber, U.S. Chamber, and other co-plaintiffs secured a win against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) last week, as Judge Mark Pittman ruled to grant a preliminary injunction of the CFPBโ€™s proposed credit card late fees rule. This means the rule will not go into effect and the status quo will be preserved until final judgement in the case, preventing the harm that would be done to credit card users while awaiting a final resolution.

The Fort Worth Chamber opposes the rule on the grounds that it would increase costs to consumers and small businesses that pay their credit card bills on time and make access to capital more difficult to come by. Stay tuned for additional updates.
